Congrats To Our Newest Scholarship Winner Maria Christina Crespo!!!

Maria attended Foothill High School and was recommended for our scholarship by her art teacher. She will be attending Hamilton College in Clinton, New York with a double major of Art and Chemistry.  She stated that “art will forever remain something that must be integrated in my everyday life, whether it be through consistent participation in public galleries, private art classes, selling pieces, or even making it my life-long career …the artistic world is unpredictable, and I can only hope that it will take me somewhere colorful and full of creativity.”

“There is nothing more magical and extraordinary than taking empty nothingness and turning it into something worth existence in the universe. Art allows even the most trapped minds a chance to see that there is worth and beauty in the simplest of matters. When times get hard, art is nonjudgmental and liberating. Art is the opportunity to escape reality and enter a dreamscape molded by the hands of the artist themselves. As an artist, I love allowing the artistic mediums to take over my mind and soul. The liberation of placing my experiences and emotions onto an empty canvas is something that cannot be replicated by anything else in the entire universe.”
